RSPCA Qld is now one of three main charities (RSPCA Qld, Bravehearts and PCYC) supported by Mobile4Charity, whose mission is to help the community and the environment – one mobile at a time.
Mobile4charity offers a tailor-made mobile phone recycling service to not-for-profit organisations and charities in Australia. RSPCA Qld supporters, WOAW supporters and mobile phone owners now have the opportunity to safely recycle redundant handsets and raise money for the animals at the same time.
The majority of handsets can be reused and are sent to developing nations where affordability on new handsets is minimal. What we see as waste can be used elsewhere – Mobile4Charity aim to give old handsets a new life!
In the cases where mobile phones can’t be reused, they can pose a great threat to the environment if not recycled in the correct manner. It’s important to understand that Australia only has practice guidelines for mobile phone disposal. For that reason, Mobile4Charity recycle all our phones in line with the new European Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive that came into force on the 1st July 2007.
RSPCA Qld will be setting up collection points across Queensland. So ditch your old phone safely and help the RSPCA Qld achieve their mission of helping animals, enlightening people and changing lives
