Greg the Bandicoot standing on a towel in the RSPCA Wildlife HospitalGreg the Bandicoot was brought to the RSPCA Wildlife Hospital after being found turning in circles on the side of the road. He had no external injuries other than some hairloss but a full veterinary neurological exam revealed that Greg had received a heavy blow to the head resulting in intercranial swelling.

He had probably been grabbed by a dog and shaken viciously. He was treated with pain relief and fluid therapy and given time to see if he would recover from his head trauma or if other internal injuries would become evident. Within 48hrs Greg was doing well – walking in a straight line, navigating obstacles, catching and eating prey and avoiding capture.

He was sent back to his home in Pullenvale the next evening with one of the RSPCA’s wonderful Hospital volunteers.

Best of luck Greg.
