Kids Can Help
There are many ways in which you can help the RSPCA, no matter how old you are.
In your community:
- Watching out for animals in your community;
- Encourage other kids not to be mean to animals;
- Reporting animal cruelty to your parents or the RSPCA, if you see it happening; and
- Looking after your own pet by giving it attention, love, proper food and exercise.
At your school
Ask your teacher to invite an RSPCA Education Officer to visit your class. Our officers love to visit schools to talk about the work of the RSPCA and how to look after animals well.
Events
Million Paws Walk
Why not enter a team of people into the once-a-year Million Paws Walk?
The Million Paws Walk is held in May each year at around 60 sites around Australia, with tens of thousands of people and their pets participating. As well as organising the walk, many sites also provide entertainment, displays, stalls, vet checks and a host of other activities. The Million Paws Walk is a great day out for all and an important fundraising event for the RSPCA. Funds raised through entry fees and the sale of merchandise help assist the RSPCA to operate its animal shelters, support its Inspectorate services and provide community education on animal welfare issues.
This year's event promises to be the best ever. The Million Paws Walk website is a great place to learn more about this exciting event.
RSPCA Awareness Week
RSPCA Awareness Week takes place each year from 1-8 October.
These dates were chosen to incorporate World Animal Day on 4 October and World Farm Animals Day on 2 October.
RSPCA Awareness Week is a chance to celebrate the joy, compassion and understanding that animals bring to our world.
The Week also has a serious purpose, in raising awareness of the many valuable services the RSPCA provides to the community.
For more information see the RSPCA National site's RSPCA Awareness Week page
Happy Tails Day
Get behind a great cause and support Happy Tails Day 2009
We're celebrating our second Happy Tails Day and we hope to have as many people as possible wearing plush tails and ears to show they care about animals and support the work of the RSPCA.
To learn more about this fun event and to get involved go the Happy Tails Day Page on the RSPCA National website
Fundraising
RSPCA cares for thousands of lost, abused and abandoned animals each year. Receiving less than 2% government funding, RSPCA depends on the generous support of the Queensland community. Your donations help RSPCA provide veterinary care, animal ambulances, cruelty inspectors and humane education across the state. Most importantly, donations help us look after the daily needs of the animals in our care.
The RSPCA also has lots of things you can buy, such as gifts and even membership to the Paw Prints Club - so these are presents you might like for Christmas or your birthday, that will also help the RSPCA at the same time!
Campaigns - changing people's ideas about animals
